Kit sightings: Carr switches to Obo Hi Rebound rhp

Standard goalie geekery here, but it is a little significant when a national league goalkeeper makes a change to their equipment set-up.

It may seem a little boring, but is the equivalent of a footie goalkeeper changing gloves for reasons of playing style and ability, so to see Phil Carr make the switch over to a larger blocking style rhp is a big enough deal. A bit like an ice hockey goalie changing catching glove or pads due to merging in new technique that have learnt and evolved their playing style with.

The owl eyed would obviously know that he used to use a TK rhp for its crossover style (i.e. good at groundwork and for aerial saves) in his days before attending Lufbra. But the Hi Rebound Obo produces offers a much larger blocking area. The Hi Rebound Plus (which Carr is using) has also been modified to make it easier and more maneuverable for moving at the wrist for getting more control on rebound direction etc.

As the Hi Rebound turns out at the wrist at an angle, whereas the Hi Control effectively moves with the wrist, there is a big difference and changeover in style and application. For the HR this means a change in 'logging' and going to ground, and sliding out so the glove turns flat when sliding in for the tackle. And the increased surface area means shots can be covered more easily and angled up and away on the save.

Interestingly this style of rhp seems to be the standard for goalkeepers in the East conference, going by the number of them used by starting goalkeepers.
